This is actually co-authored by Kevin. We role played the scene out and then I took the dialogue and actions and wrote it out as a post for our game in Sarahverse. I think its cute, and one of the happier posts that game ever had. Especially involving Vanir, who gets a +6 to emo. Lorelai is one of my more amusing characters, but her actual story is very unfinished. I plan to write it up one of these days. Need to consult with Kevin how it actually ends (besides death. We got that part down)
Warning - Contains snowballs, close call drowning, and yellow alert level of emoing on Vanir's part.

“The rabbit comes out of the hole… Around the tree… And back down the hole..”
Vanir mumbled to himself as he played with the extra parts of rope he had found along the deck. He tried various knots and grew more frustrated with each one. Lorelai found herself wandering around, her gaze upwards and expectant. On her third circle or so, she paused. “What kind of Yenearsira has no snow?” She muttered to herself with some disappointment.
“Rabbit comes… What kind of… What?” Vanir paused for a moment upon hearing Lorelai’s complaint.
“Yenearsia.” She stopped, but still kept her eyes upwards. “Winter Solstice.”
“Oh…” Vanir continued to work on the knot. “What’s snow like? I’ve heard about it… Never seen it though.”
“You’ve never seen it?” Finally Lorelai looked away from the sky and towards Vanir, her eyes wide with shock.
Vanir shook his head. “Never managed to be somewhere cold when winter hit,” he paused for a moment. “I don’t think my father much liked the cold.”
“That’s right… You lived mostly in the south.” Lorelai moved over towards the rail, a few feet from Vanir. “That’s a shame, snow is the only fun part of the cold.”
Vanir finally gave up on the knots and tucked the rope length into a pocket. “Are we going to see snow on my island?” He asked, even though Lorelai’s attention seemed to be out in the distance.
“We probably will…” She answered, a small grin on her face. “Though it seems pretty shameful to have none on the Solstice…”
Vanir, unaware of the mischievous look on Lorelai’s face, just nodded slowly. “I guess.”
“You guess?” Lorelai asked. She sighed quietly and crossed her arms on the rail. She rested her chin on them and attempted to sound innocent.
Vanir shrugged in response as he looked out into the distance. “I’ve never had snow on Solstice, so I guess I don’t know what I’m missing.”
Lorelai continued to smile as she eyes closed. “You really don’t.”
She held out her hand, almost as if she could catch one of the non-existent snowflakes. A moment passed in silence between the two. Lorelai opened one eye and glanced at Vanir. He wasn’t looking at her, nor paying much attention to her wistful gestures. He just continued to stare off into the sea. Lorelai grinned and closed her eyes once more. Energy began to gather in her open hand, drawing from the water around them and the clouds above to create a small handful of snow. Once she felt she had enough, Lorelai opened her eyes and quickly tossed the make-shift snowball at Vanir. A look of shock appeared on his face as he felt the snow drip off the side of his face. “Hey!”
With caution, Vanir reached up and gathered the remains of the snowball in his left hand. “… This is snow?”
Lorelai nodded as energy continued to gather once again in her hand. Another snowball started to take shape. “It is. And that,” She grinned slightly and pointed to what remained in his hand. “Is what we call a snowball. An excellent weapon against even the most fearsome of men.”
Vanir looked at the snow in his hand and laughed. A laugh that was unfamiliar to Lorelai’s ears. It sounded… So happy.. And child-like. It almost didn’t sound like Vanir at all. Lorelai couldn’t help but smile in return. She closed her eyes once again and started to channel the energy around them. The process was familiar – she was use to calling off storms such as this, but making one… Well, that was new. Snowflakes started to fall, or rather, float around the ship. When they landed on a part of the ship’s surface, the snowflakes stuck. Very quickly the snow started to accumulate in small piles and along the deck surface. Vanir continued to laugh at the sight and started to move among the piles of snow, in a strange little dance. Lorelai smiled again, surprised at the amount of grace the other elf had. She had been expecting him to slip and fall a few times. She tossed the second snowball she had made at his dancing form, in a surprise attack.
Vanir dodged to the side and grabbed a handful of snow. He returned the favor as he laughed. The snowball struck Lorelai in the shoulder, despite her best effort to dodge. “You better watch it Vanir,” She started to laugh as well and grabbed another handful of snow. “I have the advantage. I’m used to snow!”
Vanir continued to laugh as he tossed another snowball in Lorelai’s direction, which she sidestepped. “You may be used to snow,” he answered in between fits of giggles. “But you’re still going to have a hard time hitting me!”
“We’ll see about that!” Lorelai smirked. As if on cue Mika appeared above Vanir and dropped a snowball on his head.
Lorelai started to laugh again as Vanir brushed the snow off and gave the faerie dragon the best intimidating look he could manage while still laughing. “Hey! That’s not fair! Two against one!”
Vanir stopped laughing and gave Lorelai an evil grin as he vanished from sight. Lorelai blinked a few times as she looked around the deck. “Hey! That’s not fair either!” Her cry was cut short as a handful of snow hit her in the back of the head.
Vanir reappeared by the rail of the ship. He kept a hand on the rail to keep from doubling over in laughter. Lorelai brushed the snow out of her hair and tried her best not to laugh, though a few giggles still escaped her lips. “Just you wait till we land and we can have a real fight!”
Vanir grinned. “You should have the advantage on a ship!”
Lorelai grinned in return and closed her eyes. “I still do.”
A pile of snow near Vanir’s feet shifted and started to grow as Lorelai channeled. It grew quickly into a large snowman that towered over both elves. Vanir backed away from it against the railing, eyes wide. Having made her point, Lorelai snapped and the snowman collapsed around Vanir. Vanir tried his best to move out of the way of the snow.
Vanir attempted to step around the snow, however his foot slipped on the snow covered deck and he fell backwards towards the railing. Before Lorelai could say a word, he fell over backwards with a cry. She cursed and rushed over to the railing. “Vanir!”
The waves crashed against the hull of the ship, and briefly Lorelai caught sight of Vanir as he tried to keep afloat. However he soon disappeared under the water’s surface. Lorelai closed her eyes and kept her grip on the rail of the ship as she channeled the energy around them once again. The feel of the sea was a familiar sensation to her, and with ease the water gave way to her power.
Vanir struggled under the water’s surface until he felt a strange sensation. The water pushed him upwards, and under his feet a sense of solid foundation could be felt. The water became colder, and as he hit the surface it hardened into ice. He found himself standing on a glossy ice floor, with waves crystallized around him and the ship. The sounds of waves crashing could still be heard in the distance, but as far as he could see in the night dark everything around him was still, captured in ice.
“Vanir!” Lorelai called down and opened her eyes, relived to see the quick spell had worked. She wasn’t sure how long it would hold, but it would do for the time being. “Are you alight?”
“Yeah…” Vanir shivered, his clothes soaked. “I think so.”
Lorelai hopped over the railing of the ship and drifted slowly down onto the ice, obviously aided by a spell. She appeared rather guilty as she walked over to Vanir and took off her own cloak. She held it out to him and looked down. “… No more snowball fights on deck. I promise.”
Vanir shrugged. “Hey, it was fun… Probably the most fun I’ve had since… My mom died.” He paused for a moment and shivered. “I don’t really remember back then though…”
Lorelai forced a smile and tossed her cloak over him. “Well, I’m glad.” She paused for a moment as well. “… Now let’s get back up on the ship so I can unfreeze this and you can get warmed up.” Again, she appeared a little guilty.
Lorelai closed her eyes and held out her hand for Vanir to take. Grabbing hold, both elves started to hover over the ice. Lorelai moved upward with ease towards the ship deck, Vanir followed as he held on. “Hopefully the Captain won’t mind the new addition to the deck.” She said with a nervous smile.
Vanir laughed in return, though it was back to his guarded, restrained laugh. “Hopefully the rest of the crew will know that snow makes things slippery.”
Again Lorelai smiled sheepishly as they both touched down on the deck. As her concentration broke, the sounds of ice cracking and breaking down echoed around them. The ship started to rock back and forth again with the freed waves. “They should,” Lorelai broke the moment of silence. “If they’ve sailed in this area before.”
Again Vanir shivered. “Good.” Another moment of silence passed between them. “Thank you… For saving me…” He added quietly. “I guess now everyone in the family has saved me from drowning…”
Lorelai chuckled quietly and let go of Vanir’s hand. “Yeah, but at least last time you weren’t pushed in by the person who saved you.”
“We were having fun… And I slipped… You didn’t push me.” Vanir insisted. Lorelai just shrugged in return.
Another moment of quiet passed before Vanir shivered again and Lorelai smiled. “Regardless, let’s get back below deck. You need to change or you’ll freeze to death and I need my cloak back eventually or I’ll freeze to death.” There was still a touch of guilt in her voice.
Vanir nodded, and before Lorelai could move too far he reached out and pulled her into an awkward hug. “Hey, we’re a family remember, and even if you were at fault, which you weren’t,” He added with some emphasis. “I’m more than willing to forgive family members. Especially if they save my life afterwards.”
Lorelai hesitated, but then returned the hug despite Vanir’s cold and wet state. “Alright, alright, I get it.” She felt herself blush a little, a little embarrassed by Vanir’s remark. “And of course they have to save your life afterwards... That’s what family does.”
Vanir let go of Lorelai and shivered again. “Can a family talk below decks too?” He gave her a half grin.
Lorelai laughed. “Yes, they can. Let’s go.” Lorelai turned and moved down below deck, with Vanir following behind.
