But there are actually three drabbles!
The theme for this contest was admiration. We had to write from the pov of our character to another. Bonus cookies if you can guess the characters.
--------------------
The silence between the two of them was always comfortable. She stole a glance at the young man who had replaced the boy she had known most of her life. Somehow it wasn’t fair – He was taller than her, stronger than her, and certainly no longer in need of her protection. A proud part of her held his independence against him, but mostly she was happy for him. Unfortunately the words that usually came out of her mouth were the resentful ones, not the praise he deserved to hear. He was already a better person than she could ever be.
------------------
A careful word or a well placed grin weren’t enough to fool him. Normally it was enough to fool anyone. One night he just waltzed into your life and managed to pull you from your destructive intentions. You still haven’t figured him out, but somehow he understands you; made you forget that you had nothing to stand on but ill-promises and memories. He provided a foundation without trying; with only gruff words and oddly endearing trust. Sometimes you hated him for that, but every so often you gave a word of thanks to whatever God forced him into your life.
---------------------
Maybe she had an over-active imagination. Maybe she had grown up on too many fairy-tales and stories of glory and honor. Even so somehow she always found herself in awe of the legend… Okay, not really a legend exactly, but he was a rather big deal to someone like her - And to the rest of the citizens in the area. So he was as close to a legend as one could get as far as she was concerned. It was a shame that every time she was in town or in the temple she never caught sight of him.
